Today is my birthday. The kindergarten teachers and parapros took me out for a wonderful lunch. We are all very busy getting ready for the new school year.

I had such a good time at the school picnic. It was wonderful to see all of the children having such fun at the playgrounds---with their parents watching them! We are so blessed to have such a sense of community. Hickory Flat is a great place.

The Birthday Party

My grandaughter, Sarah, turned five today. She had a "horse" party. The party took place at a horse farm near Free Home. The kids were divided into two groups. While one group rode the horses, another group painted a horse. Literally--used finger paint and painted a real, live horse. That's something new for me. The kids all had a great time.

Another good week in the kindergarten. Everyone seems to be getting more comfortable with each other. Next week we are going to have a behavior goal for the class. By next Friday I want everyone to be able to walk down the hall and not touch the wall. That may seem like a very minor thing--But some of us "mosey" down the hall dragging both hands along the wall. I would like for them to walk quietly with their hands at their sides without reminders from me.

We had a great week last week. No cryers! Behavior was good. I think we are going to have a wonderful year.

We have had a wonderful start to the school year. There are 18 sweet little children in my class at this time. I know that we are going to have a great year!

I enjoyed meeting everyone on Thursday. The students were all so well behaved. (And so were the parents!)

I am looking forward to tomorrow. I usually have a hard time sleeping on the night before school starts, so if I seem a little sleepy---that's why.

The Sunday School class that I teach is having a swimming party today. I hope that it doesn't rain.

Yesterday was a travel day for me. My daughter, Jenifer, and grandaughter, Henley, along with Henley's friend spent a few days at the beach. We had a great time.

Jenifer's in-laws live in Jacksonville so we visited with them while we there. Henley's grandfather tried to teach her to surf. It was very exciting! We stayed at Amelia Island.

Now it's time to get back to the real world. I have to get ready for all of my new lilttle "chickadees" . The beginning of the school year always brings new and exciting things.
