Week May 3-7

This week, the students finished working on their Social Studies project, Individual Contracts on Western Expansion. They turned them in this week. This will finish Social Studies for the year.

We will finish the year studying Health. We are studying ways to prevent disease. I plan to have students research digestive diseases and do a brief report on causes and ways to prevent them.

In Language Arts, the students will turn in their questions and packet that theywere completing for the book "White Giraffe." We will then work on reading leveled readers.

Last nght was our Capstone Expo. It went very well. I like looking at projects the other teachers did with theri students. Technology has really changed the way that I teach in my classroom. My students are so much more resonsive and want to participate in class so much more than before. The whole Teach 21 experience has been a goodexperience for me.

April 26-30

This week in Social Studies, my students continued to work on their individual project on western expansion. The students have been using laptops and library resources as well as thier Social Studies books to complete theri research.

In reading, the students are finishing working on a novel study on the book, White Griaffe. Students have a packet and questions that they are completing asthey read the book.

April 19-23

This week in Social Studies, my students have been working on research projects on Western expansion. The students have been using the laptyop computer sto do their research. They were given a sheet with a list of topics on western expansion. The students have to choose one project to complete for each of the five topics listed.

In Health, the student have started studying the digestive system. I showed them a movie on Mediacast to review objectives that I am teaching. Next week we will cover the respiratory and circulaytory systems.

In Reading, the students are working on Literature Circles with th ebook, "White Giraffe."

I have been putting finishing touches on my capstone project.

April 12-16

This week, the students were taking GCRCT. I spent most of my class time after the testing giving the students OAS assessments.

I also showed the students GPB Videos to review Social Studies skills. We also worked on flip charts to review skills that I have alreayd taught in preparation for the GCRCT.

I have been working on preparing for the Capstone presentation on May 6th. I am getting a backboard ready to present my project.

Week of March 29-April 2

This week in Social Studies, we finished discussing Westward Movement. I used Flipcharts and GPB Videostreaming to review this section.

In Science, the students took OAS practice tests to review for the GCRCT.

I also gave the students OAS practice tests for Language Arts.

In Reading, we are working on a Poetry uint. I used flipcharts to present and discuss the different types of poetry before the students actually started to write thier own.

Week of March 29-April 3

This week. we continued to work on my capstone project. I am finalizing my presentation using Adobe premier.

In Science, we finished up on a unit on the Solar System. The students used the laptops to research each of the planets and record theri information on a fact chart.

In Social Studies, Wie finished a unit on the government. I used GPB Videostreaming a good bit to reivew key facts.

I nLanguage Arts, I read a story using the Basal Reader. I use the website that goes along with the rteading series to teach vocabulary and comprehensuon skills.

Week of March 15-19

This week we worked on finishing published books. We also finished reading our 'Love of Reading' projects and burnig them onto CD's . We went to Hasty Elementary and read books to our Reading buddies. The students gave their buddies their books and CD's.

We are continuing to work on the Simple Machines Capstone project. We are producing movies using Adobe Premier.

We have been working on benchmarks this week.

Week of March 8-12

This week in Science, I am atill working on getting my movie together for my capstone project on Simple Machines. I have had to get jim berry in to help with a couple of isseus.

We have been reviewing for ther GCRCT. I am planning on using the activotes to do OAS practice tests these next few weeks.

March 1-5

This week in Science, my students presented their Simple Machines projects. I recoreded the students giving their presentations using a flip camer. Next week, we will begin working on making a movie using Adobe Premier, which will be the final product for my capstone project.

In Social Studies, we are studying the American Revolution. I have been using flipcharts as well as videos form GPB Videostreaming along with my lessons.

We are working out of the Basal reader this week. I used the website that goes along with the reading series to review vocabulary on the promethean board.

February 22-26

This week in Social Studies we finished up our study of causes of the American Revolution. I used flipcharts to review the chapter with the students before the test. Our next unit will be on the American Revolution. I pan to show the students soem Jean Fritz videos on the american Revolution from Mediacast.

In Science, We finish working on oue Compound machine projects. Our Compound machines fair will be on Tuesday.

In Language Arst, we are working out of the Basal. I use the website for Reading Street to present lessons on Reading skilld on the promethean board. Especially daily oral language for English. i also like the vicabulary activities for thetsudents on this site.
